Bonn aus der Vogelperspektive am Rhein Radweg

Tourenkarte RheinradwegArrive on time today Mainz! Not only the Roman-Germanic Central Museum, the Gutenberg Museum, the Imperial Cathedral and the Electoral Palace are worth an extensive visit.

Overnight place: Mainz

Welcome to the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley! The beautiful first cycle route takes you through gentle vineyard slopes and well-known wine-growing towns. Here the Rhine still flows leisurely, forming small romantic islands and expanding its bed to a width of up to 800 m! Visit the half-timbered town of Eltville, which is worth seeing, and plan a detour (+ 14 km) to Eberbach Monastery. In Rüdesheim you should take the opportunity to taste wine, stroll through the world-famous Drosselgasse or take a relaxing ride on the cable car up to the Niederwald Monument.

Overnight place: Rudesheim

From Rüdesheim to Bingen you use the Rhine ferry and then continue on the well-developed cycle path to Bacharach. In these 16 km alone you will pass the Mouse Tower, the Rheinstein and Reichenstein castles as well as Sooneck and Hohneck castles and also the Fürstenberg ruins. Everywhere is worth a stop and in Bacharach you should climb the city wall before finally rolling into St. Goar. Here you should then climb the Loreley. A hiking trail leads up and gives you a beautiful view of the narrowest point in the romantic Rhine Valley and the worthwhile visitor center on the Loreley offers interesting insights into the history, nature and culture of the region as well as the myth of the Loreley.

Overnight place: St Goar

Today, the route continues further in the narrow Rhine Valley to the well-known wine town of Boppard. It's turbulent here, but you can also take the chairlift to the Vierseenblick to escape to quiet, forested heights and once again enjoy a wonderful view of the Rhine Valley. Or visit the well-preserved Marksburg and Stolzenfels Castle on the way to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where you end the day.

Overnight place: Koblenz

Even today, the castles and palaces on the Rhine are your faithful companions. Be it in Sayn and Neuwied, in Andernach or Namedy and also in Brohl and Bad Breisig, the palaces and castles look forward to your visit. You can let yourself drift along the flat Rhine cycle path and even find time to relax at the end of the day in the "Römer Thermen" thermal baths in Bad Breisig.

Overnight place: Bad Breisig

Today it's worth stopping in Remagen in the morning, where the former towers of the famous bridge protrude from the bank and now house a peace museum worth seeing. You can quickly reach Bad Honnef by ferry and visit the island of Grafenwerth, which lies in the middle of the Rhine with lush meadows and old trees and is considered a recreational paradise. As you continue your journey, the Siebengebirge gets closer to the river and in Königswinter you can take the oldest cog railway in Germany up to the “legendary” Drachenfels and enjoy the view. After a short ferry ride back to the left side of the Rhine, you cycle quickly, because Bonn also has numerous sights and museums, so you can once again plan a varied day to suit your own individual needs.

Overnight place: Bonn

Even today, the flat Rhine cycle path always runs directly along the bank, making the stage to Cologne a real pleasure. The Cologne Cathedral comes into view from afar and increases the anticipation of this travel destination. Today's stage is not too long, so you will reach your hotel in the city center early and can still admire the diverse sights of Cologne without any worries.

Overnight place: Cologne
