Rheinsteig Mainz - Koblenz

A boat trip on the Rhine awaits you at the start of your journey. From Biebrich Castle in Wiesbaden your route leads to Schierstein harbor. We continue directly on the undeveloped banks of the Rhine through a nature reserve and bird retreat area to the historic wine village of Walluf. You continue hiking through vineyards and lonely forest areas to the Grauer Stein natural monument. Through the Rheingau vineyards you reach the spa town of Schnurbad im Taunus.

Overnight place: Snake bath

Your path leads along forest and meadow paths to the Scharfenstein ruins and further through the vineyards to the impressive Eberbach monastery complex. Take your time to visit the famous Filmbackdrop from the 12th century, before you make your way to the picturesque wine town of Oestrich-Winkel. End the day comfortably with a glass of wine.

You hike along the Riesling Trail to the famous Schloss Vollrads winery. Light deciduous forests line your path to the pilgrimage site of Marienthal Monastery. Through the Blaubachtal and well-tended vineyards with wide views we head to the famous St. Hildegard Abbey. The old wine-growing town of Rüdesheim, where the Romans already grew wine, welcomes you with rustic wine taverns and historic half-timbered houses.

Today you climb the mountain ranges to the Middle Rhine Valley and enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful panorama and the view of the Nahe estuary. You hike past the Niederwald hunting lodge to Assmanshausen, known for its excellent red wines and beautiful half-timbered houses. Lots of half-timbered buildings and excellent wine await you in your overnight stay in Lorch.

On varied paths and along the mountain ranges with fantastic panoramas over the Rhine Valley, your path leads to the historic shipping town of Kaub or to the mountain ranges to Dörscheid. Nollig Castle ruins, Gutenfels Castle and, as a highlight, the imposing Pfalzgrafenstein customs castle, located directly on an island in the Rhine, make today's stage a real experience.

The heart of the Middle Rhine Valley awaits you with winding paths, fantastic views and fabulous castles. The most famous rock on the Rhine, the Loreley Rock, is also on your program, as is the Dreiburgenblick at Katz, Maus and Rheinfels Castles. A crowning conclusion to your day's journey before you reach St. Goarshausen.

Today we go through natural paths, fantastic landscapes and past defiant castles through the Filsener Lay, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the region. Liebenstein Castle and Sterrenberg, the “enemy brothers” accompany you on your way to the wine-growing community.

Overnight place: Camp Bornhofen

On your way to Braubach you will meet Liebeneck Castle, the Dinkelholder mills and the impressive Marksburg. You should definitely take the time to visit the completely preserved castle. The wine town of Braubach welcomes you with its city wall and numerous half-timbered buildings.

Overnight place: braubbach

On the last stage, numerous highlights await you: castles, nature reserves, forest areas and the flower-filled Bienhorntal. The hike offers distant views, beautiful nature, and an adventurous passage through the Ruppertsklamm, a real highlight! You cross the Rhine on the impressive Pfaffendorfer Bridge before ending your hiking week at the “Deutsches Eck” in Koblenz.
