Romantics, nature lovers and culture lovers - they all love the Lüneburg Heath, just as the heath poet Hermann Löns once did. Heath sheep that graze calmly in the wide landscape, amusement parks that tell stories and promise adventure, old half-timbered houses and a train station as an art object in Uelzen: the face of the heath is changeable; only high mountains you will not find here. The typical heath landscape will not let you go today either. Uelzen is the name of today's destination of your stage. Art also arouses interest: as part of Expo 2000, the Uelzen train station was rebuilt in the style of Friedensreich Hundertwasser into the Hundertwasser train station, which is well worth seeing.

Today's stage leads via small towns to the residential town of Celle. Around 480 restored half-timbered houses form the old town here. These and the Weser Renaissance-style castle in Celle are vying for your attention. Enjoy the magnificent buildings while strolling through the old town.

Along the Örtze, small wooden bridges invite you to linger and take a look at the Örtzetal. From here, with a bit of luck, you can observe many interesting things in nature. Hermannsburg looks back on more than 1000 years of history. The Saxon Duke Hermann Billung probably built a castle near today's Peter Paul Church, around which the town later developed.

Through the nature park Südheide it goes past the Lönsstein to the city of Soltau with the town hall worth seeing, the North German toy museum or to the well-known Heide Park with numerous shows and attractions.

Tour stations on today's stage are Wiedeholz, site of the last knight's battle and the former Heidebauernof Möhr and the typical Gothic Heidekirche in Wolterdingen. Enjoy the rest of the day in Schneverdingen. Explore the heather garden with 130 different types of heather.

Bike tour through the typical heath landscape of the Nordheide National Park. Heath, pine forests and Heidschnucken characterize the vastness of the landscape here. Over the "Wilseder Berg" and through small romantic hamlets, we continue to Lüneburg with its picturesque center.

Lüneburgerheide round trip

Booked with Mecklenburger Radreisen, organizer is Rückwind Radreisen. With the exception of Soltau, the hotels are great. The tour runs on too many country roads without a bike path. The supplied tour text does not always match the GPS track. The GPS delivered by Mecklenburger from Soltau to Schneverdingen is delivered in the opposite direction. According to Rückenwind, Mecklenburger has had the right track for 2 years.

Parking: Parking spaces in the underground garage for about €12 per day, no reservation possible and subject to availability. There is also unguarded free parking in the vicinity.
