"Man hot'n Maage, un nit umesunscht" is the motto here, where the fruit almost grows in your mouth and figs or chestnuts thrive just as well as elegant wine. Even Romans and kings appreciated this stretch of land between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain.

Day 4: Worms - Deidesheim region, about 38-55 km
You leave the cathedral, Luther and Nibelungen city of Worms and reach the famous wine route. In addition to wine, the mild climate means that exotic fruits such as lemons and figs thrive here. The sun shines here about 1500 hours a year. Today's destination is Bad Dürkheim with the Dürkheimer Riesenfass, alternatively Deidesheim or Neustadt.
Overnight stay in Bad Dürkheim, Deidesheim or Neustadt
Day 5: Deidesheim region - Speyer, about 25-39 km
Along the Wine Route you will reach Wachenheim, where you can make a detour to the Wachtenburg on foot. Afterwards, the wine town of Deidesheim awaits you with lots of half-timbered houses and cosiness. Stroll through the old town streets in Neustadt or let yourself be spoiled by the hearty Palatinate cuisine in the restaurants. A signposted cycle path leads from Neustadt to Speyer through shady forest areas. Speyer's landmark is the Salian Imperial Cathedral from 1030, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6: Speyer - Heidelberg, about 28 km
Your last stage takes you along the Kurpfalz route to the asparagus town of Schwetzingen.
