The Ore Mountains lie in the border region between Saxony and Bohemia in the Czech Republic. This circular hike takes you in four stages from Oberwiesenthal, through Abertamy (located in Bohemia, Czech Republic), to Rittersgrün, and back to Oberwiesenthal.

Your first leg begins on an idyllic path. Leaving Oberwiesenthal on the old postal road, you hike to Boží Dar (Gottesgab) across the German/Czech border on the Anton Günther Trail. The trail leads through the Gottesgab peat bog to the foot of the Spitzberg, at 1.115 meters the third highest mountain in the Ore Mountains. Forest paths lead to the summit of the Plesivec, whose observation tower offers a unique panoramic view of the Ore Mountains. The trail then descends to Abertamy.
(400 m ascent - 420 m descent)
Overnight place: Abertamy
Quiet forest paths lead you back across the border into Germany to the resort town of Johanngeorgenstadt. The trail crosses the Plattenberg mountain, on whose slopes mining tunnels can be found. The Wolfsbinge, a collapsed 18th-century mine tunnel that has now formed a gorge, can be visited via a side trip. The trail then descends via Potucky to Johanngeorgenstadt.
(260 m ascent and 390 m descent)
Overnight place: Johanngeorgenstadt
You leave the former mining town and present-day spa resort on the Anton-Günther-Weg trail. The path leads along the border between Saxony and the Czech Republic to the village of Halbmeiler. Along the way, a monument to an old border post with a guardhouse and barrier serves as a reminder of the time between Saxony and Bohemia.
(250 m ascent and 360 m descent)
Overnight place: Rittersgrun
Today's stage continues along the German-Czech border to Oberwiesenthal. The route begins through the Pöhlwasser Valley, following the course of the Klingerbach stream uphill. Passing through Tellerhäuser, the path leads up to the Fichtelberg mountain, whose summit can be reached in another half hour. From there, it's not far to Oberwiesenthal, where your hike ends.
(520 m ascent and 280 m descent)

The hiking trip ends after breakfast. You will make your own arrangements for your return journey.
