To get in the mood for the hiking week, climb the Grünberg, the local mountain of Gmunden. At a height of around 1.000 meters, a natural landscape with a relaxing factor opens up. You can reach the Laudachsee in a short time via comfortable walking paths. Return to Gmunden.

Take the train to Bad Ischl. From the picturesque imperial town, hike across the Nussensee to Strobl and then on to the much-sung-about St Wolfgang. Bus ride to Bad Ischl.

Start with a relaxing bus ride to Bad Ischl, where you have the opportunity to explore the charming town. From there, hike over the spectacular Eternal Wall, which offers fantastic panoramic views of the Dachstein-Salzkammergut World Heritage region. Continue to Bad Goisern, an idyllic village at the foot of the Dachstein.

Train ride from Bad Goisern to Hallstatt/Bahnhof.
Variant 1: Take time for a ferry ride to Hallstatt and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then follow the lakeshore to Obertraun and further along the Koppentraun to Bad Aussee.
Variant 2: You walk along the east bank hiking trail to Obertraun and along the wild Koppentraun into the Ausseerland to Bad Aussee. The path through the "wilderness" turns out to be a comfortable hiking trail and is good and easy to walk.

Your final day of hiking takes you along the Altausseer Traun to Altaussee and out to the screw mine of the Ausseer Salt Mines. Gentle hiking trails take you back across Lake Altausseer to Bad Aussee.
Tip: We recommend a visit to the Altaussee salt mine, which was a hiding place and storage facility for valuable art and cultural assets during the Nazi era.
