The South Coast Path - Sydkustleden - runs along the very south of Sweden, also known as the "Swedish Riviera". It starts in the charming village of Simrishamn in the east and runs along the beautiful south coast to Skanör/Falsterbo, then along the west coast and ends in Helsingborg. You drive through a fantastic coastal nature. You can sunbathe on some of Sweden's most beautiful beaches, visit small villages and charming towns, dine at local inns, visit famous bird watching spots and much more. Most of the Sydkustleden consists of paved roads, but about 5-10% of the route is gravel. Most of the route (65%) also has its own cycle path, the rest runs on side roads. The Sydkustleden is also connected to the Kattegattleden - Sweden's first national cycle route, which runs along the west coast between Helsingborg in the south and Gothenburg in the north. So if you want you can combine both the Sydkustleden and Kattegattleden in one longer tour.

Arrive on your own. If time permits, see the sights of the dreamy port city.

Overnight place: Simrishamn

Between the charming medieval towns of Simrishamn and Ystad you drive through open countryside, past ancient rock carvings and over golden rapeseed fields. The nature in this part of the Skåne region offers unique flora and fascinating fauna. Around almost every bend there is something new waiting for you. Visit the lively fishing spots, the mighty ale stones, the interesting vineyards, the Sandhammaren nature reserve, the cozy cafes and the local restaurants. Or just drive to one of the long stretches of white sandy beaches, lie down on the soft sand and enjoy the wonderful view.

Overnight place: Ystad

No other city in the Nordic countries can show such a complete picture of a setting from the past. There are more than 300 half-timbered houses, the oldest and best-preserved monastery (founded in 1267) and the St. Mary's Church with its tower guards. There are several interesting museums to visit in Ystad, such as the Art Museum, the Charlotte Beilin Museum and the Ystad Military Museum. If you are interested in the cinema and television detective Wallander, you should not miss the Studio Visitor Center in Ystad. Cycling this stretch, the sea is constantly with you as you cycle through old, quaint fishing villages and enjoy some of the many spots that offer a refreshing swim.
The scenic route from Mossby to Hörte Harbor takes you along the sea, past golf courses and health resorts. And finally, don't miss Smygehuk, Sweden's southernmost cape and a unique place with enchanting views, both from the ground and from Smyge Lighthouse.

Overnight place: Trelleborg

You cycle on historical ground where people have lived for thousands of years. History lives on in this country, as evidenced by the many Bronze Age burial mounds and dolmens you will pass. In the Middle Ages, these villages prospered thanks to herring fishing, and their history is preserved in museums, churches, fortresses and old houses.
When you arrive in Höllviken, we recommend a trip to the Falsterbo Peninsula with its dazzling white sandy beaches. The peninsula is also one of the best places in the world for bird watching. The colorful huts are typical of this area and are used by the local population. North of Malmö is Spillepengen, a green area that contrasts with the city beyond. The shallow sea waters are an important resting place for countless flocks of birds on their journey or for the winter.
On the way to Landskrona there are many good opportunities for sea diving. It is possible to shorten the route to 58 km by skipping the Falsterbo Peninsula.

Overnight place: Malmo

On this section you will enjoy the sea breeze on one side and paddocks on the other. North of Malmö is Spillepengen, a green area that contrasts with the city beyond. The shallow sea waters are an important resting place for countless flocks of birds that come here on their journey or spend the winter. Take the opportunity to test the mountain bike routes in this area.
There are many good bathing spots on the way to Landskrona. Stop at Lomma Beach or Långa bryggan in Bjärred, which stretches 600 meters out to sea. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal and go swimming.
In Löddeköpinge, Borgeby Castle and the VikingaTider open-air museum are just a stone's throw from the route, and right next to the church in Löddeköpinge is a perfectly intact classic Skåne windmill, or mölle, as we say here in Skåne. The small village of Barsebäckshamn is popular with both boaters and landlubbers and is worth a visit to linger in the harbor pub for a while.

Overnight place: Landskrona

Landskrona to Helsingborg is less than 30 kilometers, but you will experience a lot on this section. If you want to travel an extra 12 km, we can only recommend taking the ferry from Landskrona to the island of Ven in the morning and going around the island (12 km) and then taking the ferry back to Landskrona. Landskrona offers beautiful architecture and a wide range of cultural attractions. In the center of the city is the Citadellet, one of the best preserved 16th-century fortresses. Bike down to lagoons for a swim and watch the amazing skateboarders show at the adjacent skate park.
Passing Ålabodarna you soon arrive at Borstahusen, an idyllic fishing village founded in the 1770s.
Glumslövs backar is an enchanting hilly landscape north of Landskrona, formed by glaciers. This includes the Hilleshögs dalar (valleys) nature reserve, which is definitely worth a visit.
Helsingborg is a city that has something for everyone, from nature experiences and history to the excitement of a modern city.
