Strand von Oosterschelde in der Niederlande in der Region Zeeland

Rad und Schiffsklarte Holland

Self-guided tour. Embarkation from 16 pm at the charming town center and train station of the historic port town of Enkhuizen. The skipper and crew will introduce themselves and, over an aperitif, share interesting facts about the trip, the ship, the cycling tours, and inform you about the onboard safety procedures. You will have time to explore the beautiful old town. In the "Golden" 17th century, Enkhuizen was one of the world's leading trading cities, the home port of a vast merchant and fishing fleet, and known as the "Herring City." Dinner and first night on board in the port of Enkhuizen.

After breakfast, your first bike tour begins. You'll cycle along the IJsselmeer to the old harbor town of Medemblik. Afterwards, you'll continue by ship to Den Oever at the Afsluitdijk, the dam that separates the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. You'll pass through the lock in the dam and – weather permitting – the ship will sail across the Wadden Sea to the island of Texel.

The island of Texel is known for its diverse landscapes and picturesque villages. Enjoy a circular cycling tour on Texel, the largest of the Dutch North Sea islands. Tip: The well-signposted Thijsseroute (40 km) leads you through charming villages, beautiful landscapes, and to the North Sea. Along the way, you can visit the Eco Mare seal sanctuary and a small brewery at the harbor in Oudeschild.

Today the sails are set. Your destination is the island of Terschelling, located further east. You'll cross the Wadden Sea with its many sandbanks, where you might spot seals. A hearty lunch will be served during the sailing trip instead of dinner. Weather permitting, you'll dine on deck. The exact route and duration of the journey depend on the tidal currents and wind. You'll arrive in Terschelling during the afternoon. The charming villages on this narrow, approximately 30-kilometer-long island have retained much of their old-world charm. Dinner will not be served on board tonight, giving you the opportunity to explore the harbor of this beautiful island with its many inviting restaurants and pubs.

Yesterday you spent most of your time sailing; today it's back on the bike. Terschelling has a lot to offer: nature and culture, 70 km of cycle paths, and four charming villages. West-Terschelling is the island's largest town, with numerous shops and pubs. The island's landmark, the 400-year-old Brandaris lighthouse, can be seen from afar. Also worth visiting is the De Boschplaat nature reserve, characterized by moors, salt marshes, beaches, and dunes. With a bit of luck, you'll see plenty of ducks, stilts, and large colonies of spoonbills and great black-backed gulls. In the late afternoon, the ship sets sail again for Harlingen, the most important port on the Frisian mainland.

The bike tour starts after breakfast in Harlingen. Passing through Franeker, home to the famous planetarium by Eise Eisinga, the route continues by bike through the beautiful, expansive Frisian countryside dotted with small villages, all the way to Makkum on the eastern shore of the IJsselmeer. If you opt for the longer route, you will also visit Bolsward, one of the eleven Frisian cities.

From Makkum, the cycle route continues to Stavoren. The shorter route leads through the old trading town of Hindeloopen, famous for its paintings. Hindeloopen is also home to the first Frisian ice skating museum. The longer route follows several lakes of the Frisian Lake District, revealing a completely different landscape. At the end of the day, the boat departs from Stavoren back to Enkhuizen.

After breakfast, disembarkation by 09:30 am and individual journey home.

Simmer fan Fryslân
The Simmer fan Fryslân is an impressive three-masted galleass with a rich history. Originally built in 1932 as a sailing cargo ship, she was lovingly converted into a comfortable and characterful passenger vessel in 2003. Below deck, you'll find twelve spacious twin cabins (11–13 m²), each with two single beds (which can usually be joined to form a double bed) and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink – everything you need for a relaxing stay.
On the main deck, the atmospheric restaurant with its well-stocked, nautical-themed bar invites you to linger and enjoy each other's company. A second lounge in the deckhouse is ideal for relaxing with a book or a drink. Out on the aft deck, spacious seating areas have been created where you can enjoy the fresh air and magnificent views.
