The spa town of Oberwiesenthal is the starting point of your star hike around the two highest mountains in the Ore Mountains, the Fichtelberg at 1215 meters and the Keilberg on the Czech side at 1244 meters. Vast spruce forests and mountain meadows dominate the landscape in one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Germany.

With the suspension railway under your own control up to the Fichtelberg. Hike from Fichtelberg on various paths, always downwards to Tellerhäuser, a small settlement on the upper Klingerbach. You can stop off at the Erzgebirgstüberl on the Anton-Günther-Weg along the border back to Fichtelberg. Take the suspension railway back to Oberwiesenthal under your own direction.

Ascent to the Fichtelberg, Oberwiesenthal's local mountain. A well-marked hiking trail takes you to the summit. Continue over the ridge to Bozi Dar (God's Gab) in the Czech Republic. Continue on the path to the highest mountain in the Ore Mountains, the Keilberg (1244m). The round closes down the valley back to Oberwiesenthal.

Overnight place: Oberwiesenthal
Hike down the valley to Annaberg-Buchholz. On the way is Crottendorf, which is known for its incense cones. Your route leads through the forest along the ridge past the Kuhbrückenberg and Morgenberg with the valley in sight to Crottendorf. Continue across meadows and slopes to Annaberg-Buchholz. Return journey by public bus or train to Oberwiesenthal on your own.
450 m descent - 120 m ascent
Overnight place: Oberwiesenthal
Today you hike along the ridge path down to the Cranzahl dam, from there up to the Bärenstein, with a remarkable all-round view from the tower. Possibility to stop at the Bärensteinbaude. Descent to Cranzahl train station. Return journey on your own with the over 100-year-old Fichtelbergbahn back to the health resort of Oberwiesenthal. The following day can be used as a rest day.
150 m / 470 m descent
Overnight place: Oberwiesenthal
You will travel there and back on your own with the historic Fichtelbergbahn to the soup town of Neudorf. In Neudorf you will begin your circular hike, which, when the visibility is good, offers wonderful views of the Ore Mountains. The narrow-gauge railway will take you back to Oberwiesenthal. The circular route goes around Neudorf, so it is possible to leave the path and return to the starting point at various points, so the hike can be shortened at your own discretion.
