This is a five day trip based in a cyclist friendly hotel in Amsterdam. You stay four nights in Amsterdam and have three full days and possibly also the day of arrival or departure for cycling. We have worked out four bike tours for you, so you can decide for yourself every day what you want to see: the fishing village of Volendam and the cheese town of Edam; the world famous windmills in Zaanse Schans; the Muiderslot Castle; or the elegant city of Haarlem. When planning your trip to Amsterdam try to arrive early and leave late to get the most out of 5 days.
If you would like to ride a bike on the day of arrival and/or departure, please request additional days for bike rental via the comments box on the booking form.
This trip could also be ideal for groups with different interests and cycling ambitions. So some can go on a long bike ride and others enjoy the museums in Amsterdam - in the evening you meet again and end the day together.

If you arrive early, you can explore the different neighborhoods of Amsterdam by public transport or on foot. There are nice shopping streets, museums, places to stay, restaurants... enough to fill your day.

Choose from the four routes. For example the tour to Marken, Volendam and Edam on the coast of the former Zuiderzee Sea. The first two are old fishing villages; the latter shipped salty, round cheeses to the rest of the world. The 78 km long route takes you through an idyllic picture-postcard landscape. Or you can take a shorter bike ride of 46 km to Haarlem, one of the most beautiful old towns in Holland.

Choose one of the four routes today as well. The route to Muiden Castle is 63 km long. A military theme accompanies us here. The town of Naarden is a good example of a star-shaped fortification (take a look at GoogleMaps!). It is very well preserved, complete with walls and a moat. Next you come to the village of Muiden, at the mouth of the river Vecht. Although very picturesque in itself, it is best known for its small moated castle built around 1280 - well worth a visit!

The last of our four routes takes you to the Zaandam and back. The area around the river Zaan was industrialized very early thanks to wind energy. Hundreds of sawmills made possible the construction of the enormous merchant fleet that brought prosperity to Amsterdam. This is a fantastic route for those interested in industrial heritage! As well as seeing the old factories and warehouses along the river, you can also look forward to the beautiful windmills in Zaanse Schans, where mustard, paint and oil are still produced today. Look at the many Filme on Youtube to get a taste of Zaanse Schans. At sunset you are back in Amsterdam and can take a leisurely stroll through the romantic canal district
