Charming Desenzano will be your base for the seven-day tour to the various corners of Lake Garda. The home of Romeo and Juliet, with its famous amphitheater and balcony, is just one of the towns you'll explore. Trento, Mantua, and Brescia also enchant with their culture and fascinating history. On hot summer days, the numerous lidos invite you to take a dip in the cool water. Treat yourself to a rest or two and sample local wines and homemade gelato.

Overnight place: Desenzano

Transfer to Trento with its beautiful old town and its cathedral and Buonconsiglio Castle. First along the Adige to Rovereto. From here the tour leads west towards Lake Garda. In Mori you can try the famous pistachio ice cream or a freshly squeezed fruit juice in the Gelateria Bologna. After a short climb, the descent to the lake follows to Torbole and then on to Riva. Boat trip along the entire length of the lake back to Desenzano.

In the morning, take the train to Verona. The city of Romeo and Juliet with its Renaissance palaces, the Roman arena and the many cozy squares. The tour takes you over gentle hills, past cypresses and vineyards back to the southern shore of Lake Garda - for Goethe it was a "delicious spectacle," for the Roman poet Catullus it was a "cherry in the eye."

Beautiful paths lead south along the Mincio to Mantua. The thousand-year-old city of the Gonzaga captivates visitors with its magic of art and beauty. Worth seeing are the Castello S. Giorgio and Palazzo Ducale, Piazza Sordello with Rigoletto's house, the cathedral, Piazza Broletto with the old town hall, Piazza Erbe with the courthouse, the clock tower, the Rotunda S. Lorenzo and the Basilica S. Andrea. Return journey by train.

Today's bike tour takes you along lonely paths, through vineyards, peach orchards and kiwi plantations to Solferino. The place where Garibaldi united Italy in the famous "Battle of Solferino". Back to Lake Garda through the region where the sparkling wines of Lugana are grown.

First, along the lakeshore towards Cavalgese di Riviera, accompanied by unforgettable views of Lake Garda. Continue along the Naviglio Grande Bresciano (canal with cycle path) to Brescia. A city of Roman origin with many other sights. Return by train
