Star tours Gelderland (Villa Ruimzicht)

After a delicious and rich breakfast buffet you are strengthened for your first bike tour. It goes south, to the Montferland south of Doetinchem. Green, varied and a lot of history - this is how you could briefly describe this area. Keep in mind that not all of the Netherlands is flat. When booking this holiday you will encounter sloping terrain at times. Small villages hide between the hills, forests and fields and in the middle is the medieval town of Heerenberg. The Castle Huis Bergh can be visited. Recommendation!
Today you have the choice of a short and long route. If you feel like cycling a few extra kilometers, then choose the long route of 49 km that takes you to Germany. This route has an extra loop from Stokkum via Elten and the Elter Hügel ('Elterberg'), from where you have a beautiful view of the imposing Rhine Bridge and the Rhine Valley at Emmerich.

Today you first follow a quiet bike path along the banks of the “Alten IJssel”. On the way to Doesburg is the small village of Laag-Keppel, where you can see a restored water mill and a Frisian polder mill that belonged to Keppel Castle. The Hanseatic city of Doesburg is the cultural highlight of the day. There are 7 Hanseatic cities along the IJssel, which flows into the Zuiderzee. Surrounded by water and lovingly renovated, Doesburg is an ideal place to spend an unforgettable afternoon. After Doesburg you follow the beautiful IJssel valley to the picturesque town of Bronkhorst, the smallest town in the Netherlands that still exudes a medieval atmosphere.
You cycle back to Doetinchem via the beautiful village of Hoog Keppel and the Kruisbergsche Bossen.

Today we have the north of the county on the agenda. First on the route is the small village of Zelhem. Then you continue cycling through "The green heart of the Achterhoek", with a varied landscape of forests, meadows, fields and country estates, interspersed with small neighborhoods.
Today you can also make a longer route of 56 km to Vorden, a beautiful village surrounded by beautiful estates and forests. The photogenic Schloss Vorden is definitely worth a visit.

Let yourself be enchanted by the vastness of the landscape and the lush green. To the east of Doetinchem is the small town of Terborg and Wisch Castle. It can be admired along the way, a visit is not possible as it is inhabited and privately owned. It was first mentioned in 1285 as "Castrum Wische".
You follow the river Oude IJssel to the village of Ulft, near the German border. Through the forest on the Slangenburg estate you cycle back to Doetinchem.
If you feel like it, you can cycle a longer route today of 65 km that goes to Landfort and Wasserburg Anholt, just over the border in Germany. 

After breakfast you start your journey home.
