Today we recommend a train journey to Mettlach (duration 41 minutes), so you follow the Saar and the Mosel in the direction of the river back to Trier. We recommend that you switch to the left side of the Saar in Mettlach and cycle 4 km up the Saar into the middle of the famous Saar loop. Now park the bike and ride Schuster's black horse up to Cloef. From up here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the famous Saar loop. Back on your bike, follow the direction of the Saar cycle path Mosel. You should definitely plan a nice break in Saarburg, which is well worth seeing, before you roll back to Trier via Konz.

Look forward to the beautiful and well-developed Mosel-Bike path. You cycle comfortably in the flat area past the old ferry tower from Schweich to Mehring. Here we recommend that you take a break at the historical remains of the Villa Rustica before continuing on to Trittenheim. You can arrange the return journey to Trier individually, either by bike for the very sporty riders or by boat from Trittenheim. Alternatively, cycle from Trittenheim on the other side Moselalong the banks back to Schweich (20 km), and here we take the train to Trier for the last stage.

Today you will explore the Mosel upwards. We recommend taking the train to Nennig in the morning (duration 40 minutes). Nennig became known for the Roman villa and its beautiful mosaic floors. In 1852, a farmer digging a beet pit came across mosaic stones that turned out to be parts of a representative Roman mosaic floor. The floor was probably in the large reception hall of a magnificent villa urbana, which a rich Roman landowner had here Moselvalley on the Roman road Metz - Trier was built.
