On your own initiative. Dresden is the undisputed cultural metropolis of Saxony. Get in the mood for Dresden with a stroll along the Brühl Terrace, across the Augustus Bridge, past the Procession of Princes to the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). Stop for a coffee in the Italian Village at Theaterplatz and try a slice of Saxon cake.

Bike tour in the Elbe sandstone. The journey goes past the Albrecht Castles and the royal vineyards to Pillnitz Castle and then on to Pirna, the gateway to Saxon Switzerland. From Pirna the Elbe valley becomes increasingly narrow. You cycle along the river bank to Rathen, take the ferry over on your own and have the opportunity to climb the Bastei. From the bastion you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Elbe valley. Further along the way you can take the shuttle bus up to the fortress in Königstein. The end point of the day tour is Bad Schandau. If you want, you can end the tour beforehand. Return to Dresden by S-Bahn.

Today's stage takes you along the banks of the Elbe to Meissen. A visit to the Deutsche Bosel, a mountain from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Elbe valley, is worthwhile. It is not far from the Bosel to Meissen, where you can visit the Meissen porcelain factory (incl.). You will gain insight into the processing techniques of the oldest German manufactory. An extensive exhibition opens up the world and history of Meissen porcelain to the visitor. Explore the old town of Meissen with its winding streets and half-timbered houses or stop off in one of the wine cellars and bars for a pint of Meissen wine. Back by bike to Dresden along the Elbe or by train (on your own).

With the historic narrow-gauge railway to Moritzburg. After exploring the pond landscape around the castle, cycle back to Radebeul via Weinböhla. On your way back, you'll stop at Wackerbarth Castle, where you'll take part in a sparkling wine tour. The tour takes you through the sparkling wine factory and explains the various stages of sparkling wine production. You will experience the result at the subsequent tasting. The Weingut Schloss Wackerbarth is Saxony's oldest sparkling wine cellar. Then it's back to Dresden.
Overnight place: Like the day before in Dresden
By train to Pulsnitz under your own direction. Visit the Gingerbread Museum and one of the many gingerbread bakers who make the traditional Christmas sweets all year round. Your bike tour takes you to Radeberg, where you can visit the brewery on your own for a good 2 hours from Tuesday to Saturday. On your way back you cycle through the forest area of the Dresdner Heide before you meet the Elbe cycle path again in the Radeberger suburb. Then it's back to Dresden.
