The Malmö House in Sweden

Star tour map Sweden

Check into the centrally located hotel.
Malmö is known for its diverse food culture, ranging from Michelin-winning restaurants to excellent street food. As Sweden's unofficial falafel capital of Sweden, at least one meal here is a must. At Ribersborg Beach, popularly known as "Ribban", there is a beautiful beach promenade and a venerable old bathhouse. From here, it's not far to the city's most recognizable landmark, the 54-story Turning Torso. Malmo is a world-class cycling city, so explore Malmo, enjoy its diversity, parks, open-air markets and much more.

Overnight place: Malmo

After breakfast you have a transfer (45 minutes) to Skanör/Falsterbo. This peninsula is known for its dazzling white sandy beaches, typical of the region and used by the local population. The peninsula is also one of the best places in the world for bird watching. On the section between Skanör/Falsterbo and Malmö you cycle through open countryside, past farm shops selling local products. The contrast between fields and the Malmo skyline looming in front of you is truly impressive.

Overnight place: Malmo

Today enjoy the sea breeze on one side and paddocks on the other. Just north of Malmö is Spillepengen, a green area behind the city. The shallow sea waters are an important resting place for countless flocks of birds, resting or overwintering on their voyage. There are many good bathing spots on the way to Landskrona. Stop at Lomma Strand or Långa bryggan in Bjärred, which stretches 600 meters out to sea. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal and go swimming. In Löddeköpinge you can visit Borgeby Castle and the open-air museum VikingaTider, both just a stone's throw from the route. Right next to the church in Löddeköpinge is a fully intact classic Skåne windmill, or mölle as they say in Skåne. Popular with boat lovers and landlubbers alike, the small village of Barsebäckshamn is worth a visit to linger in the harbor pub for a while.

You arrive in Landskrona, a town with beautiful architecture and a wide range of cultural sights. In the center of the city is the Citadellet, one of the best preserved 16th-century fortresses. From Landskrona you take the train back to Malmö.

Overnight place: Malmo

We recommend that you leave early today, because you have already experienced a lot. Take the bike
on the train to Copenhagen. Start a nice city tour and pass the cozy port of Nyhavn. (You can pre-book a 20-hour guided canal boat tour that starts and ends in Nyhavn). Continue to Langelinje and visit the Little Mermaid. Afterwards you leave Copenhagen via Hellerup and Tuborg Harbour. Once you've left vibrant Copenhagen, you'll cycle along the coast and soon you'll reach Klampenborg. Here we strongly recommend that you leave the cycle path and cycle through the fantastic deer park "Jaegersborg Dyrehave". You cycle on quiet gravel paths between oak trees and have a high chance of seeing deer. Continue along the beautiful coastal path, past long beaches and small villages such as Rungsted and Humlebaek. You can visit the Karin Blixen Museum in Rungstedlund and/or the famous Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek. When you arrive in Helsingör, board the ferry (XNUMX minutes journey time) that will take you to Helsingborg.

Overnight place: Helsingborg

It is only 25 km from Helsingborg to Landskrona, but you will experience a lot on this route before you take the ferry to the island of Ven. Soon you will reach the charming hamlet and harbor of Råå, then cycle along the coast before cycling the 'Glumslöv Hills', a charming hilly plateau carved by glaciers. This includes the Hilleshögs dalar (valleys) nature reserve, which is definitely worth a visit. It's a bit uphill, but it's not that difficult and you get great views before descending slightly to Borstahusen, an idyllic fishing village founded in the 1770s. From Borstahusen it is only a few kilometers to the small town of Landskrona, which offers beautiful architecture and a wide range of cultural attractions. In the center of town is the Citadellet, one of the best-preserved 16th-century fortresses. The ferry (30 minutes) takes you to the wonderful little island of Ven. cycle around the entire island in just 12 km, it is a very popular cycling and hiking island. Island. After cycling around the island, take the ferry back to Landskrona, then cycle to the train station (4 km) and take the train to Helsingborg.

Overnight place: Helsingborg

Today you go on a beautiful coastal tour with breathtaking views of Øresund and the
Danish Zealand. From Helsingborg you cycle north past Sofiero Castle with its beautiful garden - voted the most beautiful in Europe in 2010. The route continues up to Höganäs and out into the beautiful, rocky landscape of the Kullaberg Peninsula. At the Kullahalvön is the nature reserve Kullaberg. If you have time to detour off the trail, it's worth a visit. (+ 8 km if you cycle to Mölle and back)
After the beautiful, dramatic Kullaberg Peninsula, head towards the 500-year-old town of Ängelholm. From Ängelholm you take the train back to Helsingborg.

A smooth and comfortable journey is of paramount importance. There are a number of options available to you when you travel to Sweden.

Flight option:

A flight may sometimes be cheap and comfortable, but the check-in process requires time and attention. In addition, taking your own bike on a flight is extremely expensive. In this case it would be more advisable to get a rental bike locally. If you still prefer a flight, I recommend flying to Copenhagen Airport for the outward and return journey.

car option:

Having your own car offers flexibility and allows you to stop and take breaks at any time. However, if you are going to Sweden just for this tour and want to return afterwards, I would like to draw your attention to a few cost considerations. If you want to drive to Sweden via Denmark, please keep in mind that the two Great Belt bridges charge a toll of 30-50 euros per bridge per trip. You can of course also take the ferry to shorten the route. Please note, however, that the shipping companies charge high prices for this. Here you would have to reckon with about 90-180 euros for the crossing. Once you arrive in Malmö, you should also calculate parking fees of 15-25 euros per day. All in all, the use of the car is quite expensive.

Lane option:

This option is very popular with our customers. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the exact prices because I'm not very familiar with this area. However, I know that there is a train connection from Hamburg to Copenhagen, which takes about 3-4 hours and also allows you to take bicycles with you. From Copenhagen it is then only about 15 minutes by S-Bahn to Malmö, where you can easily take your own bikes with you.

Ferry option as a pedestrian:

This option is also very popular. There are two good departure options: one with the shipping company Stena Line from Rostock to Trelleborg with a journey time of about 6 hours or, what I would rather recommend, with the shipping company FRS-Baltic from Sassnitz/Mukran to Trelleborg with a journey time of about 2,5, 3 hours. You can conveniently leave your car in the port (Rostock: 6 euros per day // Mukran: 2 euros per day) and then board with your luggage and bike. For the crossing with FRS-Baltic I checked and for 80 people including bike the price was around 300 euros per trip. Once you arrive in Trelleborg, it is only a maximum of 400-6 meters to the train station, from where you can travel to Malmo. The ride including bike costs about 8-XNUMX euros per person.
