Die Mecklenburger The Lake District is the largest contiguous water area in Central Europe. On the star tour you explore large parts of this untouched forest and lake landscape. You will experience the Müritz National Park when you change location to Neustrelitz. Waren, as the center of the Mecklenburg Lake District with its harbor and old town, and the residential town of Neustrelitz with its palace gardens and orangery round off your holiday.

Arrive on your own during the day. The old town, the marina, the MÜRITZEUM (incl.) with the largest freshwater aquarium are lovely destinations.

Overnight place: Waren (Müritz)/ Clinic

You cycle from Waren on the west bank of the Müritz to Röbel. The route is flat to slightly hilly. You often have a wide view over the enormous water surface. The tour can be extended to the southern tip of the "Small Sea". A passenger ship (incl.) takes you back in the afternoon Waren.

Overnight place: As in the day before Waren (Müritz) or Klink

You circle the Kölpinsee and Fleesensee. You can visit the "Land Fleesensee" resort, the island town of Malchow and the "Damerower Werder" bison reserve on this stage. From Malchow you can take a ship on your own Waren drive back and thus shorten this day's stage. The next day there is a change of location with luggage transport.

Overnight place: As in the day before Waren (Müritz) or Klink

Experience the natural landscape of the national park, which is untouched in many places. Watch ospreys or enjoy the diverse flora. The view from the Käflingsberge over the countryside is wonderful.

Overnight place: Neustrelitz

Explore small tranquil villages and dreamy forest lakes that invite you to swim. The vast forests of the Serrahner part of the Müritz National Park stretch south-east of Neustrelitz. In the core of the protected area you can experience the natural development of beech forests in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Overnight place: Like the day before in Neustrelitz

Today you roam through the center of the Mecklenburg small lake area. Almost all lakes are connected by narrow canals or narrow rivers. In many places you can explore the lake district by canoe (on your own). 1001 bathing opportunities await you here.

The next day there is a change of location with luggage transport.

You cycle back through the northern part of the Müritz National Park Waren. In Ankershagen you can visit the Heinrich Schliemann Museum (on your own). Continue on the route of the long-distance cycle path "Berlin-Copenhagen". Waren.

Bad weather variants

Overall, we liked the tour suggestions. We recommend downloading the GPX tracks from Go Vista according to the travel guide. While others are confused by the forest of signs at junctions or because of a lack of signs, you can cycle on comfortably. However, there are some sections with very sandy paths that are unsuitable for narrow tires. We were on our own bikes. It was very bad between Nossentin and Jabel. The section between Zinow and Serrahn is also not recommended for less experienced riders. It is therefore better to use the route from Carpin to Serrahn. Cars are not allowed there. If you are unlucky with the weather, like we were, you need alternatives. For example, you can shorten the return journey from Neustrelitz by 10 km if you go directly from Kratzeburg to Klockow. There is a signposted cycle path from the campsite to Fedeow. The shortened section has the advantage that you are protected from wind in the forest and have relatively few climbs. That brings me back to the topic of "mountainous"; I cycled 242 km and climbed 1520 meters. So, as a result of the effects of the ice age (terminal moraines - sandur), the Müritz is not as flat as many riverside cycle paths. My conclusion: beautiful tours through nature, suitable bike (trekking) with sufficient gear ratios and tires not 38 mm, weather protection, maps (tour guide), optional GPX navigation (also as a mobile phone app).

Everything was great - only one hotel was a disaster

The organization with parking, luggage transport, etc. worked great. Even with the tour plans, we always got where we wanted to be. The hotels in Waren both were worth their 4 stars. The Parkhotel Fasnerie in Neustrelitz deserves the 4 stars just for the facade and the park! Inside it felt more like a youth hostel. Long queues at breakfast and dinner. Acoustics like in a gym. It was simply uncomfortable to have breakfast when there were people waiting behind you. The drink prices at the bar were a complete rip-off. We had to pay over 2 euros for 12 beers and carry them to the terrace and bring them back ourselves. The room for the bikes was a joke. It was already completely full when we arrived. In an emergency (it was pouring with rain) we put our bikes in the neighboring room with the garbage cans. The next morning we found our bikes outside. The whole hotel did not exude a friendly atmosphere thanks to the harsh tone. With a few exceptions, the staff seem to have been trained by the VoPo. Conclusion: Please never again in this hotel!

Nice tour with blemishes

Overall it was a nice tour. The hotel small sea in Waren was great. The Hotel Fasanerie in Neustrelitz is not recommended. It is very old and the rooms are not very clean. The location is very far from the center, so you had to pay for expensive drinks at the hotel bar in the evening (7,50 euros for a beer). Two nights in Neustrelitz would have been enough. The day trips were great, with the exception of the return trip from Neustrelitz to Waren. Here it was almost only along or on the street. A path through the forest would be possible and nicer.

Overall, very well organized bike tour with very good service. We had several breakdowns with our own e-bikes and were picked up by the Mecklenburger Radtour quickly and easily supported. The bottom line is very good customer service, friendly people and very good value for money. We'll be back over die Mecklenburger Radtour Book and definitely recommend the company to others.

Nice tour

The bike tour is very good and no problem with the e-bike. Beautiful landscapes, observing animals (cranes in September), swimming lakes, small garden cafes. The bike paths are very good.
