Arrive on your own. The colorful city Harz invites you to take a leisurely stroll through the streets lined with half-timbered houses. A highlight is the market square with the historic town hall. The short ascent to Wernigerode Castle is rewarded with a beautiful view of the city.
Overnight place: Wernigerode
Today your stage takes you to Goslar, the imperial city. The imposing buildings from a wide variety of eras have earned the old town the UNSECO World Heritage title. Also part of the world heritage are today's Rammelsberg visitor mine, which procured valuable ores for the rulers of bygone times, as well as the Oberharzhe water management from the 16th century with a pond and ditch system for generating energy through hydropower that is unique in the world. After these extensive and diverse experiences, the train takes you back to Wernigerode (on your own).

With the Brockenbahn (incl.) you go up to 1.141 meters today. From the highest mountain in northern Germany, also known to witches as "Blocksberg", you can see the national park Harz. From the summit you can hike comfortably downhill to Schierke or 3 Annen-Hohne back to Wernigerode.
Overnight place: Like the day before in Wernigerode
Cycle a little uphill, past the Michaelstein monastery with its historic collection of musical instruments to Blankenburg. The witches have left their mark near Thale in the Bodetal. Discover the Hexentanzplatz with witch house during a breather in the cable car. At the end of the stage you will reach the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlingburg. Enjoy the atmosphere of the cozy old town and the all-round view from the Schlossberg. The collegiate church located up here houses the famous Quedlinburg cathedral treasure (incl.), as well as the graves of the first German king, Heinrich I and his wife. You return by train (on your own) to Wernigerode.
Overnight place: Like the day before in Wernigerode
Use today for a circular hike in the immediate vicinity of Wernigerode. The path leads up to Wernigerode Castle, from whose terrace you get your first beautiful view of the city. If you want, you can also visit the castle with the bookable experience package.
Further along the trail, you cross the Mühlental valley and follow the hiking trail to Armeleuteberg and then on to the Bismarck Tower. From the tower, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the countryside. A rope hanging from the tower wall is reminiscent of the Grimm fairy tale "Rapunzel." Further along the trail, you'll find a forest inn for refreshments. Afterwards—at your own discretion—you can complete your hike by heading back down the valley to Wernigerode.
