During this trip you not only have the opportunity to visit numerous famous Dutch cities south of Amsterdam, but you also discover other surprising sides of Holland, for example when you cycle through the wonderful landscape, the “Green Heart” of the country : A water-rich environment with lush meadows, grazing cows, windmills and traditional farms... a landscape that couldn't be more Dutch.

Rad und Schiff Tourenkarte der MS de Nassau

Day 1: Amsterdam – Haarlem

Embarkation and check-in from 14:00 p.m. in Amsterdam. In the late afternoon the ship leaves for Haarlem. The tour briefing will take place on board and you will receive a welcome drink.

Day 2: Bike: Haarlem – North Sea coast – Haarlem | Ship: Haarlem – Zaandam, approx. 40-50 km

There are two bike tours to choose from today. Both tours lead through the magical Kennemer Dunes, a nature reserve with many birds, Scottish Highland cattle and Shetland ponies. After visiting the seaside resorts of Bloemendaal aan Zee and Zandvoort, head back to the ship through forests and the center of Haarlem. On the slightly longer tour, the route also takes you to the historic DeCruquius pumping station, the largest steam engine in the world. During dinner the ship sails to Zaandam.

Day 3: Zaandam – Amsterdam, approx. 30-45 km

Today you drive from Zaandam to the open-air museum “Zaanse Schans” (free entry), an old, traditional village with rustic wooden houses, a cheese dairy, a traditional clog maker and various windmills. Then cycle back to Amsterdam via the Twiske recreational area. Here you have the whole afternoon and evening to look around Amsterdam. Take the opportunity to discover the city center, go on a shopping tour, take a canal cruise or visit a museum.

Day 4: Ship: Amsterdam – Breukelen | Bike: Breukelen – Utrecht | Ship: Utrecht - Rotterdam, approx. 25-40 km

The bike tour starts in Breukelen. You drive along the magically winding river Vecht, whose banks are lined with impressive castles, stately villas and special tea houses. You follow the Vecht to the center of Utrecht, where you can visit the beautiful center of this historic city: the cathedral with its high tower, canals, special shops and quaint bars. In the afternoon you continue your tour by boat from Utrecht to Rotterdam.

Day 5: Rotterdam – Schiedam – Delft – Rotterdam, approx. 28-50 km

Today you cycle via the Jeneverstadt Schiedam and through the Delfland region to Delft, which is famous for its “Delft Blue” porcelain. Visit the beautiful city center with its small canals, picturesque streets, bridges and avenues. For many guests, a visit to the Delft Porcelain Factory is one of the highlights of this tour. Later you will return to Rotterdam, where a short walking tour of the city will be offered in the evening.

Day 6: Rotterdam – Alblasserdam with the “Waterbus” | Bike: Kinderdijk – (Gouda) – Schoonhoven, approx. 30-58 km

Today you either cycle or take the “water bus” to Alblasserdam in around 40 minutes. From here it is only a few minutes by bike to Kinderdijk (UNESCO World Heritage Site, with 19 large windmills standing in a row). Afterwards you can choose between a longer bike tour with a visit to the beautiful cheese town of Gouda or a shorter tour through the Alblasserwaard polder. Both tours end in the silver town of Schoonhoven, where you can visit a silversmith.

Day 7: Bike: Schoonhoven – Oudewater – Utrecht | Ship: Utrecht – Amsterdam, approx. 45 km

Today we cycle from Schoonhoven through the enchanting “Green Heart”, past small villages and over quiet paths and country roads to Utrecht. On the way you can visit a traditional cheese farm and the Hexenwaage House in Oudewater. In the late afternoon the ship leaves Utrecht for Amsterdam.

About the ship De Holland is a medium-sized, family-style river cruise ship that was built in 1952 and extended by 2012 meters in 16. In the winter of 2017/2018, the ship was extensively renovated and received a complete makeover: a new layout, larger and more luxurious cabins and a new interior design. The ship sails under the Dutch flag and management and is very popular and ideal for cycling and boat trips through North and South Holland.

Description of the cabins
There are 23 twin cabins (10 m²) on the lower deck. Three twin cabins at the front of the ship have two single beds placed side by side as a double bed (200 x 160 cm), as well as a folding bed as an optional third bed (for children only). 20 twin cabins have two single beds placed next to each other as a double bed (200 x 160 cm). All cabins have a window (80 x 40 cm), which cannot be opened for security reasons.
On the upper deck there are nine identical twin cabins (10 m²) and one suite (13 m²); These cabins have two single beds placed next to each other as a double bed (200 x 160 cm). All cabins on the upper deck have a French balcony (floor-to-ceiling, glazed sliding door) instead of a window.

Upon prior request, in most cabins the beds that are normally set up as hotel beds can be set up as two single beds.

All 33 cabins on board the De Holland have individually controlled air conditioning, a ventilation system, a small wardrobe, digital TV, mini safe, hairdryer, 230 volt sockets and a bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. The suite has the same facilities as the superior cabins but is significantly larger.
