Arrive on your own. If time permits, see the sights of the dreamy port city.

Overnight place: Simrishamn

The route between the two picturesque, medieval towns of Simrishamn and Ystad leads through extensive countryside, past weathered rock carvings and through bright yellow rapeseed fields.

This part of Skåne is characterized by a unique flora and fauna. A whole new experience awaits around every bend in the road! Discover lively fishing villages, the imposing Ales Stenar, exciting wineries, the Sandhammaren nature reserve, cozy cafes and local restaurants. If you feel like taking a break, long, white beaches invite you to linger. Enjoy the soft sand and the endless expanse of the sea. Those who explore south-eastern Skåne by bike can look forward to countless highlights.

Overnight place: Ystad

More than a thousand years ago, the Vikings set sail from the south coast of Skåne and sailed the seven seas with their ships.

Start your tour in Ystad. Stroll through the town with 300 historic half-timbered houses and visit Sweden's oldest monastery. Then continue west and experience Bronze Age burial mounds, the lively fishing villages of Beddinge strand and Böste, historic stone tombs and Sweden's southernmost headland, Smygehuk. With the port city of Trelleborg you reach the end of this stage. The historic Viking castle Trelleborgen awaits you here with a museum and café.

Overnight place: Trelleborg

It is only 20 km from the Viking castle in Trelleborg to Sweden's Riviera.

The long, white sandy beach at Näset has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe by Rough Guides. Here you can spend relaxing bathing days, enjoy fish fresh from the smokehouse in Skanör harbour, let yourself be pampered in Restaurant Badhytten or Hotel & Restaurant Skanörs Gästgifvaregård and walk between the picturesque houses. Skanör/Falsterbo is known among ornithologists as one of the most biodiverse places in Sweden: more than 340 bird species have been sighted here. Whether you are passionate about ornithology, gastronomy or relaxing days on the beach - there is something for every taste here.

Overnight place: Skanor/Falsterbo

From Sweden's Riviera it is only 30 km to Malmö, which is rated as one of the top 10 cycling cities in the world.

But Malmö has much more to offer than good cycling routes. The city is best known for its endless diversity. There are countless restaurants, trendy markets, beautiful parks and the proximity to the sea. Our recommendation: take a few days to visit Malmö. Go shopping in trendy Möllan, bathe in the iconic Ribbans kallbadhus bathing complex, stroll in Pildammsparken, linger in Slottsträdgårdens café, visit the artificial island of Västra Hamnen and the architectural landmark Turning Torso. Don't miss out on Malmo's excellent culinary offerings. No wish is left unfulfilled here, because the metropolis offers everything your heart desires - from restaurants with Michelin stars to delicious street food for a snack in between.

Overnight place: Malmo

The drive from Malmo can easily be completed in two hours. If you want to cool down, you can go to Lomma's flat sandy beaches or to the traditional bathhouse Bjärreds kallbadhus.

Landskrona is characterized by a diverse range of art and theater. In the heart of the city sits the Citadel, one of the best preserved 16th-century fortifications in Northern Europe. At the fortress is Sweden's oldest garden colony, a blooming oasis. But Landskrona does not only have a lot to offer for culture, history and art lovers. Those who want to swim will also get their money's worth on the beautiful beaches. If you're feeling adventurous on the water, you can take a fishing trawler out into the bay.

Overnight place: Landskrona

In western Skåne the water is saltier and the landscape more hilly than in south-eastern Skåne.

Gentle hills and closely spaced fishing villages make up the charm of this landscape. On the almost 30 km between Landskrona and Helsingborg you will experience the idyllic Borstahusen with original buildings from the 18th century, as well as the attractive Glumslövs Backar hill, the picturesque village of Ålabodarna north of Landskrona, Örenäs Castle and the picturesque fishing village of Råå. You end the stage in Helsingborg, a continental, vibrant city with a charming core and countless restaurants, excellent shopping opportunities and a rich cultural offer. Here you can also visit the picturesque Sofiero Castle and experience the lush parkland of Fredriksdals trädgårdar.

From the last stage of the Coastal Cycle Route, you can also make a detour to the island of Ven in Öresund. The entire island is under nature protection. It offers breathtaking panoramas, unforgettable nature experiences and fantastic opportunities for cycling.

A smooth and comfortable journey is of paramount importance. There are a number of options available to you when you travel to Sweden.

Flight option:

A flight may sometimes be cheap and comfortable, but the check-in process requires time and attention. In addition, taking your own bike on a flight is extremely expensive. In this case it would be more advisable to get a rental bike locally. If you still prefer a flight, I recommend flying to Copenhagen Airport for the outward and return journey.

car option:

Having your own car offers flexibility and allows you to stop and take breaks at any time. However, if you are going to Sweden just for this tour and want to return afterwards, I would like to draw your attention to a few cost considerations. If you want to drive to Sweden via Denmark, please keep in mind that the two Great Belt bridges charge a toll of 30-50 euros per bridge per trip. You can of course also take the ferry to shorten the route. Please note, however, that the shipping companies charge high prices for this. Here you would have to reckon with about 90-180 euros for the crossing. Once you arrive in Malmö, you should also calculate parking fees of 15-25 euros per day. All in all, the use of the car is quite expensive.

Lane option:

This option is very popular with our customers. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the exact prices because I'm not very familiar with this area. However, I know that there is a train connection from Hamburg to Copenhagen, which takes about 3-4 hours and also allows you to take bicycles with you. From Copenhagen it is then only about 15 minutes by S-Bahn to Malmö, where you can easily bring your own bikes and then onward.

Ferry option as a pedestrian:

This option is also very popular. There are two good departure options: one with the shipping company Stena Line from Rostock to Trelleborg with a journey time of about 6 hours or, what I would rather recommend, with the shipping company FRS-Baltic from Sassnitz/Mukran to Trelleborg with a journey time of about 2,5, 3 hours. You can conveniently leave your car in the port (Rostock: 6 euros per day // Mukran: 2 euros per day) and then board with your luggage and bike. For the crossing with FRS-Baltic I checked and for 80 people including bike the price was around 300 euros per trip. Once you arrive in Trelleborg, it is only a maximum of 400-6 meters to the train station, from where you can travel to Malmo. The ride including bike costs about 8-XNUMX euros per person.

Overnight stays in good 3 and 4 star hotels as well as family-run 2 star hotels

Not included: Cultural tax, bed tax, arrival and departure, transfers, excursions, entrance and sightseeing fees, city maps, ferry fees, insurance, tips and personal expenses
