Steep climb to Cima di Dentro. From here you have a wonderful view of the Magadino plain and the nearby Lake Maggiore. Take another look back at the three castles of Bellinzona (UNESCO World Heritage Site) before descending to Isone.

First through the swamp at Gola di Lago and then further through a sea of ferns in the sparse birch forest towards Bigorio. There are panoramic views over Monte Bigorio and then the Franciscan monastery of Santa Maria: an eagle's nest above Tesserete.

Morning bus ride to Cimadera. From here, today's tour leads past the rock formations of the Denti della Vecchia over Monte Boglia through beech forests and plateaus to Monte Bré, the viewing platform high above Lugano. From here take the cog railway down to the city center.

The hike from Monte San Salvatore to Vico Morcote is a classic. It always goes a little downhill, forest areas alternate with spruced up villages, nice grottos and beautiful views along the way. From Morcote we continue by boat and cable car to Serpiano.
