The Mozart city of Salzburg is the start and finish of the classic route on the Tauern Cycle Path. On slightly hilly, family-friendly cycle paths along the Salzach and Saalach, the beauties and magic of the Salzburg region open up to you. The masses of water from the Krimml Waterfalls tumble roaring down while Lake Zell invites you to jump into the cool water. The Hohenwerfen Fortress towers mightily high above the cycle path, while the Hohensalzburg Fortress offers a magnificent view over the city.

Explore the world-famous old town of Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace, Hohensalzburg Fortress and Mirabell Palace. Visit the extravagant Hangar-7 with its numerous historic airplanes and racing cars.

Day 2: From Salzburg to Golling, approx. 30 km
You leave the city of Mozart behind and cycle towards the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Hochkönig and Tennengebirge. You will visit Hallein, which has been of great importance for salt mining since prehistoric times. Passing the Gollinger waterfall you reach Golling.

Day 3: From Golling to Bischofshofen, approx. 25 km
Be sure to take the time for a very special sight on the tour - the Eisriesenwelt in Werfen, a gigantic cave system in the Tennengebirge! You shouldn't miss Hohenwerfen Castle either before heading to the Austrian ski-jumping mecca of Bischofshofen.

Day 4: From Bischofshofen to Zell am See/Kaprun, approx. 55 km
You leave the Salzburger Pongau behind and cycle along the Salzach in the direction of Zell am See. You shouldn't miss the roaring Liechtenstein Gorge before heading to the picturesque Lake Zell.

Day 5: Round tour from Zell am See/Kaprun to Krimml, back to Zell am See/Kaprun, approx. 60 km
The Pinzgau local train takes you comfortably to Krimml. Along the Krimmler Ache you cycle up to a highlight of your tour - to the Krimml Waterfalls, the largest in Europe! Back to Lake Zell, it's a wonderful descent, always along the mountain giants of the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Day 6: From Zell am See/Kaprun to Lofer, approx. 50 km
You leave the Hohe Tauern National Park region and cycle towards the mighty Loferer Steinberge. Along the Saalach to Lofer.

Day 7: From Lofer to Salzburg, approx. 60 km
