It is not (yet) a metropolis like Paris, London or Rome, but it still captivates with its special multicultural charm, with squares, facades, galleries and streets that make up the charm of this city. Grand-Place, Atomium and Manneken-Pis - the icons of the Belgian capital are a must for every visitor to Brussels.

Overnight place: Brussels

On the first day you cycle to Leuven. This city is not only known as a university city - with the oldest university in Belgium - but also as a beer city. Enjoy the old market, the large beguinage. A walk in Mechelen, city on the Dijle, will lead you to the most important historical monuments, most of which date from the Burgundian period - St. Rombouts Cathedral. Visit the toy or clock museum.

Overnight place: Mechelen

Today you cycle a short stage. You can take the train (approx. 15 minutes) to the nearby Rubenstadt Antwerp on your own. The port city is one of the most lavish art cities in Europe. Here the Baroque finds its climax in the painting of the painter prince Rubens. The wealth of the trading city is reflected in the magnificent city palaces and churches. A walk through the city center shows not only landmarks but also various green places in the city. You cycle along the Rupel and Scheldt rivers to Bornem.

Overnight place: Bornem or Temse

Ghent, the capital of East Flanders, also known as the "historical heart of Flanders", offers a variety of sights and is dominated by an imposing row of towers, including St. Bavo's Cathedral with the world-famous painting "The Ghent Altarpiece" by Jan van Eyck . The medieval townscape has been well preserved in many places: the old harbor with the guild houses on the Graslei and the Korenlei is just one of the magnificent views that Ghent has to offer.

Overnight place: Ghent/Melle

Anyone who visits Bruges immediately notices that this city has always carefully nurtured and nurtured its architectural and artistic styles. Take the time to stroll through refreshing parks and quiet, tranquil cobblestone streets. And don't forget to admire the humble folk houses as well as the magnificent mansions. The center of Bruges is also worth strolling and shopping.

Overnight place: Bruges

Cycle along the small white village of Lisseweg and on to the beautiful coast of De Haan. There you can take a dip in the North Sea or sit on the beach in the sunshine. Or you can just enjoy a quiet day in Bruges, visiting museums, shopping, etc. From Bruges you can also visit Ostend (reachable in just 15 minutes by train on your own).

Overnight place: Like the day before in Bruges

Departure after breakfast on your own, eg with the direct train to Brussels (approx. 55 minutes) or with the return transfer booked in advance. We can also book an extra night for you.

on good cycle paths through Belgium

In less than ideal weather conditions (wind, occasional thunderstorms, rain), four of us cycled from Brussels to Bruges. Starting in Brussels (Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening) in a centrally located hotel was ideal, but another day would have given us the opportunity to get to know Brussels better and also offered more opportunities for sightseeing on a weekday. In general, the signs along the route were not always sufficient for us (we are experienced cyclists, at least 8 longer bike trips with various organizations). Tedious searches in sometimes bad weather are annoying! Since we had chosen the better hotel category, we were disappointed with 2 hotels (a bit dirty, close to a busy road with a lot of emissions..., 140 cm bed for 2 people with a duvet does not offer the necessary sleeping comfort. Velotel in Bruges is too far from the city. The cycle paths are in good condition, lead through beautiful areas, villages...
