This cycle tour from Prague to Dresden connects two important cultural and historical cities: let yourself be captivated by the magic of the golden city of Prague before heading through rural Czech Republic towards Germany. In recent years, the Elbe cycle path on the Czech side has been continuously expanded, so that you rarely have to take country roads on a cycle tour between Prague and Dresden. Look forward to the pretty Elbe towns such as Melník and Leitmeritz and be inspired by the bizarre rocky landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, which welcomes you as the gateway to Germany. After seven days, your cycle tour will reach the Saxon Florence on the Elbe, as Dresden is often affectionately called.
If you are arriving by car for your cycling trip, we recommend that you travel to Dresden and park your car at our partner hotel instead of driving directly to Prague. From Dresden, we offer a transfer service that takes you directly to Prague (Holesovice district, close to the cycle path). This way, you can start your cycling trip from Prague to Dresden in peace and without any worries.

The “Golden City” offers you numerous opportunities for sightseeing and other activities. Visit the Hradčany with the Royal Palace, stroll across the Charles Bridge or immerse yourself in Prague city life with its diverse cultural offerings.

After breakfast, you hop on your bike and leave the Czech capital. You cycle along the Vltava to the center of the Bohemian wine-growing region of Melnik. From the castle hill in Melnik, you can enjoy the wonderful view of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe, as well as the further course of the Elbe cycle path, which you will be traveling on for another four days.

From now on, your cycling route will always lead you along the Elbe. Today's cycling tour will take you via Roudnice to the former fortress town of Terezín (Theresienstadt). From here it is only a few kilometres to Litoměřice (Leitmeritz) with the famous Kelchhaus. End your cycling tour with a stroll through the beautiful old town.
Overnight place: Litoměřice region
On today's section you cycle through Usti nad Labem, past the ruins of Schreckenstein Castle to Decin. Frédéric Chopin was already inspired by the Baroque palace there, which is well worth seeing.
Overnight place: Decking
From Decín, you cycle along the Elbe Cycle Path on the left bank of the Elbe and soon reach Germany. Now the bizarre rock formations of Saxon Switzerland rise up to the left and right of the Elbe. Take your time to absorb the impressions of the picturesque Elbe valley and cycle leisurely to the picturesque spa town of Bad Schandau. From Bad Schandau, the Elbe Cycle Path takes you past the Königstein Fortress and the Bastei viewing rock to the medieval town of Pirna, the gateway to Saxon Switzerland, where today's stage ends.
Overnight place: Bad Schandau/Pirna
The last cycling stage takes you past Pillnitz Castle. It is worth taking a break here and taking a walk through the famous castle park. Now it is only a short stretch along the Elbe cycle path until you finally reach Dresden. The historic old town is a great place to stroll.
