In the morning you take the S-Bahn and bus to the starting point of your first hiking tour on the Malerweg, to the town of Wehlen (duration: approx. 7 - 40 minutes). You reach the most famous viewing point in Saxon Switzerland – the Bastei Bridge. Then you descend into the Amselgrund and head for the second highlight of the day – the Hockstein. Through the Wolfsschlucht you reach the Polenztal, below the town of Hohnstein with its castle.

Passing through the Schindergraben ravine, you'll encounter the Gautschgrotte cave. The Brandaussicht viewpoint is today's highlight. The trail then descends over 800 steps into the Tiefen Grund valley. Via Waitzdorf, you'll reach Altendorf or the Kirnitzschtal valley. Depending on availability, you'll spend the night in Altendorf, the Kirnitzschtal valley, or Bad Schandau.

The direct uphill route takes you to the Schrammstein view and along the ridge path through the Schrammstein massif. Passing the large and small cathedral you will reach the Affensteinweg. This leads you to the Lichtenhain waterfall. Via the cowshed you reach today's stage destination, the technical monument Neumannmühle. The bus takes you back to Kirnitzschtal or to Bad Schandau.

In the morning you will travel by bus to start today's stage. You hike through the Upper Saxon Switzerland to the armory. Shortly afterwards, the breathtaking Goldstein view awaits you. In Schmilka you use the Elbe ferry and take the S-Bahn to Krippen for your overnight stay. Alternatively, walk another 8 km on the Malerweg.

You take the train back to Schmilka. Above all, enjoy the view of the right bank of the Elbe with the Schrammstein massif today. In the last quarter you climb the Papststein and the Gohrisch before you reach the health resort of Gohrisch.

The short stage takes you over the Pfaffenstein, past the Diebskeller to your hotel at the foot of the Königstein Fortress. This leaves enough time to visit the “Impregnables” before you take the S-Bahn back to your hotel in Pirna or Dresden.
