Today the highlight of your hiking trip awaits you: the climb to the Brocken in the middle of the core area of the cross-border national park Harz. You climb to the summit on well-developed and varied paths. The route takes you down to Schierke or Wernigerode Harzhe narrow-gauge railway (self-payer). Overnight stay in Schierke or Wernigerode.

If you spend the night in Wernigerode, first use the bus (excl.) to Schierke. On the Pfarrsteig you reach the hiking trail again. Past the Trudenstein with its distant view, you walk downhill to the Königshütte waterfall. Now you come across the Bode river and a new landscape emerges - limestone mining is still being carried out here. Overnight stay in Elbingerode or Hasselfelde.
