Fürstenberg/Havel is the starting point of your hike on the Märkisches Landweg from the Havel to the Oder valley. Your starting point is easily accessible from Berlin by train. The small Uckermark town on the Havel is located on 3 islands and is surrounded by the lakes Röblinsee, Baalensee and Schwedtsee. From here you hike through the forests of the Uckermark over a wide and unspoilt country. Your hike goes through the Schorfheide via Angermünde to Stolpe an der Oder, where you can see the expanse of the Oder valley with its alluvial forests stretching to the horizon from the tower or the hillside.

Your first stage leads to Himmelpfort. The former village school is now Santa Claus's post office. A good 300.000 wish lists from all over the world reach this small post office every year. Your hike takes you past the Himmelpfort Mill, today a place for creative and cultural workers in the region. You then hike through the extensive pine and mixed forests of the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park, and through the heathland past forest lakes to the former rafting town of Lychen. Like Fürstenberg, the town is surrounded by several lakes. The hike can be shortened to 18 km (on your own initiative)

Today's destination is the thermal brine spa in Templin. Along lakes it goes again through the wide forest area of the Uckermark. Glacial channel lakes such as the Zenssee near Lychen and the Platkowsee are your companions on the way to Templin. A wonderful hiking trail with wonderful views leads along the banks. In the middle of the forest lies Alt Placht on a green island with the jewel of its little church. An idyllic path takes you through the Mark pine forest along the Großer Mahlgastsee, where you reach the Templin chain of lakes, which are not far from the Havel. Templin is the gateway to the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park and the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. The iodine-rich thermal brine comes from a depth of 1.650 meters, is 57,7°C warm and has a salt content of 15%.

Today's hike continues through the quiet Brandenburg forests. Hikers are surrounded not only by pine forests, but also by large areas of mixed deciduous forest with beech and oak trees. Interspersed with meadows and fields, you reach and hike through the Schorfheide. The destination of the stage is Ringenwalde. The church there is worth seeing, as is the castle park designed by Lenné.
Overnight place: Ringenwalde
Today you hike to Angermünde. If you stay overnight in Templin, take the train from Templin to Ringenwalde on your own. A field stone road lined with linden trees is the start of today's long stage to Angermünde. You reach Poratz, once a charcoal burning village, with the simple half-timbered houses, which are now listed buildings. The path continues through forests, characterized by individual forest lakes and small moors, over meadows and fields that offer views of the wide and quiet country. This area is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Germany. A good resting place can be found at the Peetzigsee and later also at Wolletz on the north shore of the lake of the same name. The last stretch from Wolletz forms an idyllic conclusion to your hike. It leads on a tranquil path along the lake shore to Angermünde. These stages can also be shortened on your own.
Overnight place: Angermunde
On your last stage on the Märkische Landweg you leave the forest and lakes that have previously accompanied us through the Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park and the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. You reach the Lower Oder Valley National Park. After hiking through the hills of the moraines east of Angermünde, the hill at Stolper Turm offers a wonderful view over large parts of the national park. The view extends flat to the horizon over the floodplain forests of the Oder valley, which is crossed by many river valley arms. The tower, also called Grützpott according to a legend, is the landmark of the village in Angermünde. By bus or taxi (your own direction) back to Angermünde to your accommodation.
Overnight place: Like the day before in Angermünde
