Day 1: Arrival in Meiningen
Arrive independently in the theater city.
Day 2: Meiningen–Bad Salzungen, approx. 43 km
Here we go! Follow the Werra past Wasungen with its half-timbered old town surrounded by defensive walls to the spa town of Bad Salzungen. Experience the revitalizing effect of the Celtic bath, which is unique in Germany, and round off the evening with a stroll through the old town, which is well worth seeing.
Day 3: Bad Salzungen - Dankmarshausen, approx. 40 km
You continue cycling between the southern slopes of the Thuringian Forest and the impressive peaks of the Rhön. Treat yourself to a short break in the historic old town of Vacha. You will soon reach Heringen, famous for the Werra Potash Mining Museum. Here you can take tours to the "Monte Kali", the rock salt heap visible from afar. Your small hotel (Cat. B) is located at the foot of this impressive "sugar loaf".
Day 4: Dankmarshausen–Eisenach, approx. 37 km
Many lakes and nature reserves line your way along the meandering Werra, and you will soon reach Eisenach. Take enough time to visit the Wartburg and also visit the places where famous sons of the city worked, for example in the Bachhaus or in the Lutherhaus.
Day 5: Eisenach–Eschwege, approx. 58 km
The river meanders gently through a magnificent low mountain range landscape, past towering limestone cliffs and medieval villages and towns. In Creuzburg and Treffurt you should stroll through the romantic streets of the listed old towns. Eschwege, your overnight stay today, has a very special half-timbered charm.
Day 6: Eschwege - Hann. Münden, about 59 km
Art on the cycle path: Sculptures by well-known artists line the banks of the Werra-Meißner-Land. Make a refreshing stop at the brine exercise pool in Bad Soden-Allendorf. You roll through the "land of cherries" around Witzenhausen to Hann. Münden, which offers a closed medieval townscape and the Guelph Castle. End the day with a stroll.
Day 7: Departure from Hannoversch Münden
Today, after breakfast, your cycle tour along the Werra ends. From here you can join a cycle tour along the Weser or the Fulda.
