Surrounded by water on three sides - the Dutch province of North Holland lies on a peninsula between the North Sea, the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer. The rich history of North Holland is still visible in many places today. Picturesque towns tell of a time when the IJsselmeer was still called Zuiderzee and had open access to the North Sea. A visit to the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen brings these times back to life. Discover the peninsula between the North Sea, the IJsselmeer and Texel, the largest West Frisian island. A landscape characterized by water, dikes and dunes, nature reserves, flower fields, pastures and many picturesque towns. The province of Friesland with its unique lake landscape, with its numerous rivers and canals is a true paradise for cyclists. The peace and vastness of nature is omnipresent and made to be experienced from the saddle.

Individual arrival in Enkhuizen. Embarkation in the afternoon. Perhaps you still have time for a first short walk through the pretty historic port town with its charming old town.

Overnight place: Enkhuizen

In the morning, you should definitely take the time to get to know the pretty little port town on the banks of the IJsselmeer. The city's rich history can still be seen today on a walk through the old town with its numerous villas, canals, churches and city walls. Tip: A visit to the Zuiderzee Museum is particularly recommended.

Afterwards you will start your first bike tour to Hoorn. Look forward to the historic old town with its many buildings from the 17th century (e.g. the harbor tower or the warehouses on the quay).

Overnight place: Hoorn

You start the day with a boat trip across the IJsselmeer to the province of Friesland to Lemmer with its historic old town and pretty gabled houses. Start of the cycle tour: via Oosterzee Buren to the Tjeukemeer and via Munnekeburen, Scherpenzeel and Schoterzijl back to Lemmer. The longer tour also takes you around the Rottige Meenthe and Brandemeer nature reserve. Tip: Visit the largest steam pumping station in the world that is still in operation, the "Woudagemaal".

Overnight place: Lemmer

We cycle to the Sondeler Leien lake, from there through the Rijsterbos forest, past the Mokkebank (bird sanctuary) to the Roode Klif to Stavoren. From there we take a boat trip to Harlingen. The Frisian port city is known for its magnificent warehouses and patrician homes, canals and bridges, for its tidal port Noorderhaven and for the many café terraces and shops.

Overnight place: Harlingen

Today another varied bike tour around Harlingen awaits you. Enjoy the wide view and the beautiful nature of the province of Friesland. Your ship sets sail at around 17 p.m. and you cross over to the North Sea island of Texel.

Overnight place: Oudeschild (Texel)

Cycle tour on the largest Dutch North Sea island, Texel. Various routes of approx. 28/35/48 km are available. Boat trip to Den Oever at around 17 p.m.

Overnight place: Den Oever

Today you can choose between a longer and a shorter tour. From Den Oever, a small village with a historic fishing port and a still active fishing fleet, you can either cycle west to Julianadorp, continue south through the dunes to Callantsoog with one of the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands and then east via Kolhorn, formerly a port on the Zuiderzee and now located in the middle of meadows, to Medemblik, or you can choose the shorter route that takes you through the beautiful "Hollands Kroon" region on the former island of Wieringen with wonderful views to Medemblik, the oldest town in West Friesland. A beautiful city center and many cozy cafés await you.
