Oderhaff Cycle Route: Overview of possible stages

The Oder Lagoon Cycle Route, formerly known as the Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Route, stretches approximately 444 kilometers from Lüneburg in Lower Saxony to Ueckermünde on the Szczecin Lagoon in Western Pomerania. Depending on the tour you choose, different stages await you on your journey. These sections are particularly popular:

Lüneburg to Ludwigslust

• Route: Start in the historic Hanseatic city of Lüneburg, along the Elbe through the Elbe valley meadows, past Bleckede and Hitzacker, to Ludwigslust.
• points of interest & sights: Scharnebeck ship lift, Dömitz fortress, Ludwigslust castle.

Ludwigslust to Parchim

• Route: From Ludwigslust through the Griese area, along the river Elde, to the town of Parchim.
• points of interest & sights: Historic old town of Parchim, Eldemuseum.

Parchim to Waren (Müritz)

• Route: Through the Mecklenburg Lake District, past Lübz and Plau am See, along the Plauer See and the Müritz, to Waren.
• Attractions: Lift bridge in Plau am See, Müritzeum in Waren.

Waren (Müritz) to Neustrelitz

• Route: Through the Müritz National Park, past Federow and Kratzeburg, to the residential town of Neustrelitz.
• points of interest & sights: National Park Information Center in Federow, Neustrelitz Castle Gardens.

Neustrelitz to Neubrandenburg

• Route: Through wooded areas and along several lakes, via Burg Stargard, to Neubrandenburg.
• points of interest & sights: Stargard Castle, medieval city wall with the four city gates in Neubrandenburg.

Neubrandenburg to Ueckermünde

• Route: Through the Ueckermünde Heath, along the river Uecker, to the Szczecin Lagoon to Ueckermünde.
• points of interest & sights: Ueckermünde Zoo, old town of Ueckermünde.

The Oder Lagoon Cycle Route is characterized by predominantly low-traffic routes, mostly on paved farm tracks. There are occasional sections with sandy paths and cobblestones. The route is consistently signposted and offers numerous attractions along the way, such as Ludwigslust Palace, Lake Müritz – the largest lake entirely within Germany – and the Müritz National Park. For cyclists, the Elbe-Oder Lagoon Cycle Route therefore offers a varied tour through some of the most beautiful regions of Northern Germany.
